\nand the flicker of candlelight against restless, prowling thoughts\u2014
\nonly these things keep me warm this night,

the silence
\nbefore any words are invented
\narrives to embrace me.<\/p>\n
Time is
\nand was
\nand will be,
\nand now She takes the form of my favorite dream\u2014
\nthe dream of a white sand beach
\nwhere I could alight from my oceanic journey
\nand glut myself on the richness of coconut and crab\u2014<\/p>\n
and while She dances across the tops of the playful waves,<\/p>\n
She is strong enough
\nto pull me along toward her until<\/p>\n
we meet, are utterly combined.<\/p>\n
I have no choice\u2014so hungry am I for birth
\nI press myself into her, feeling her slick weight
\nacross my eyelids, pressing down
\non my brow, her essence running in streams down either side of my mouth,
\ncarving me like the deepest canyon;<\/p>\n
only this
\ngives any light – even
\nthe moon has turned her face away,
\nwho can be so jealously measured by gain or loss,
\nand the sky is invisible.<\/p>\n
Time is simply as She always was\u2014
\nthat empty canvas,
\nmy sail to catch any wind,
\nspace, itself.<\/p>\n
Surrounded by Her
\nthe current does not draw me,
\nthe tide no longer pulls.
\nSome may think the dream has ended,
\nfor appearances.<\/p>\n
But that too, is illusion,
\nfor we in our embrace have touched,
\nwe have felt, we have become.<\/p>\n
And the silence before
\nany of these words
\nis
